So, an email with this image discovered my unsolicited mail folder. There are various things Sony could discuss on February 20th, barely 2 weeks away. However, this Twitter tag: #playstation2013 only fuels the hearth about Sony announcing the following PlayStation.
Will they announce the PS4 then No person knows, but with the spin cycle in full swing, everything points to the corporate announcing their next console. Sony did announce their handheld console, the PlayStation Vita on the end of January 2011. It goes together with Sony’s MO – announce their upcoming console and get the hundreds salivating like a pack of Pavlov’s canines. Sony will show it off at E3, then release it later this year. a couple of games that were expected to be at the PS3 were likely slated to hit the PS4 instead. So, the follow-as much as “Shadow of Colossus,” “ICO” and yes, “Last Guardian” will likely discover a comfy home at the new console.
Let’s dig deeper and make a couple of informed speculations concerning the new console.
First, if proven true, Sony’s PS4 announcement on February 20th means Sony … knows getting out of the gate first is a winning strategy. This generation, Sony has edged Microsoft in overall sales – latest figures here but remains in second place behind the Nintendo Wii. For a console maker that dominated last generation, a second place spot isn’t something to gloat about. Sony, realizing how important being first really is, has decided to get out the gate first next generation, which apparently starts later this year.
Second – Sony’s PS4 announcement means Sony … is targeting new hardware, new software. I say this in response to Sony’s past backward compatibility features. When the PlayStation 2 came out, it was all about playing PlayStation games. A Sony exec on the time (Phil Harrison) said it (backward compatibility) was a “core value” for the emblem HERE . Fast-forward many years – sagging PS3 sales and Sony, trying to get PS2 gamers off the pot and into the PS3 stable, did away with the feature. The PS4 will continue the fad. If you study the PSPgo, the PlayStation Vita – new handhelds, with none ties to the PlayStation Portable (PSP). When you had PSP games, in case you desired to play them for your new system, rebuy them. Really Nintendo has enjoyed unreal success by having their handhelds – the DS, DS Lite, DSi and now the 3DS – can all play Nintendo DS games. That feature makes a word of difference for an individual who’s on a limited gaming budget. Give it some thought – why should i’ve continue to rebuy game after game simply to play it on a brand new system Even the 360 offers limited backward compatibility, in addition to the Wii (Gamecube games) or even the Wii U (Wii games, but not Gamecube games).
Third – Sony’s PS4 announcement means Sony … isn’t going to charge a cow and a half for his or her console. Consistent with sources, the hot console, which I fully expect to be the perfect 3D Blu-Ray player avaiable for purchase, should be across the $400 mark. That’s place to begin, but i’m keen on the launch lineup. With no stellar lineup, sales will sag for the console and Sony may consider a worth cut. If that occurs, you are able to smell the blood within the water. Let’s hope Sony will return to their core value – (see Second above) and keeps BC inside the new PS4.
